STEVE MOTLEY

Born and raised in Chesapeake/Gloucester and currently the owner/operator of Motley Construction in Mathews, Steve first performed at Donk's as a teenager when it opened in 1975 with his brothers in the band "Straight Flush". Steve went on to become the drummer for the Shades of Country in the 1980's and backed such greats as Jack Green, Kitty Wells, Joe and RoseLee Maphis to name just a few. He how performs regularly at Donk's where audiences appreciate his expertise on the blues harmonica and his "wide open" vocals. Steve's selection of songs tell stories that prove very entertaining from the less known "Memphis Women and Fried Chicken" to the ever popular "Polk Salad Annie". His favorite songs are those done b Delbert McClinton and Leroy Parnell - some say he does them better than the original artists. Visit the Opry and determine that for yourself!!
