JEFF LONG

Jeff Long, of Newport News, Virginia, ia a Country and Gospel music favorite at Donk’s. Not only is he the rhythm guitar player in the house band, The Shades of Country, but his vocal renditions are spectacular displays of talent. Jeff has been singing and playing music professionally for more than 20 years and is an accomplished pianist, guitarist and singer of country and gospel music. Jeff surprised his audience at his last two shows with an aria from opera – which “stopped the show” and afforded him a standing ovation.
Before coming to Donk's, Jeff was (and still is) a member of Lynda Smith's band, 'Live Wire.'

Prior to joining Lynda Smith and Donk's, Jeff worked with such bands as 'Westwind', 'Four Wheel Drive', and 'Dixie Rose.' In addition to his work at Donk's and with Lynda Smith, Jeff has a solo career doing church concerts and singing at retreats. He released a CD of contemporary Christian Music in l997 entitled, 'Saved By Grace.'

Jeff Long's concerts at Donk’s are always a musical extravaganza, showing Jeff's incredible versatility of many different styles of music. His rendition of Conway Twitty’s “Only Make Believe' is a spectacular example of what Jeff Long can add to a country song.

From Lynda Smith...

I met JLo back in 1996 when he became the keyboard player in my country/rock band, Live Wire. We have performed together in some capacity ever since! He has been with the Shades of Country for more than three years now and it’s an honor to have him! He plays acoustic guitar, which is his other instrument of choice, and sings a great deal of harmony with that smooth baritone voice.

What he brings to the Donk’s house band: An amazing outlook on life, a kind heart with never a negative word against anyone and a constant determination to be better in ALL aspects of his life and career.

Personal Stuff: He’s single, ladies! I keep threatening to auction him off one night from the stage! Lives in Newport News; Has a popular gospel music career; Plays with Deanna and I in a new trio called Grounded.
